Construction begins on the Charlotte drag strip.
The dark building in the right center is the dirt track grandstand.
As I pan further you see the end of the new grandstand and the area that the strip will be on...the area with all the trucks working.
The lighter color lands will probably be a pit area to be shared with the dirt track.
This maybe a wall of the multi-level building at the starting line.
Just an artsy shot of the dirt track stands.
This is the elevator to the top of the stands...and suites.
The new grandstand goes up.
Again the light colored area is probably a shared pit area (drag / dirt).
The strip will run out into the cleared area in the distant trees.
This view is looking northwest.
It seems the grandstand will be much longer than this.
Looking east we see the Lowes Speedway across the street.
This is the backside of the elevator tower.
The dirt track grandstand
Further around and we see the dirt track
Lots of work going on. Remember the pit area has to be ready for the dirt race in May.
The on ramp to the track, down the main straight.
The dirt track at Lowes
The view from the top of the dirt track stands, looking west.
The construction trucks are parked in the dirt track pit area.
Just past the old pit area will be the begining of the drag strip. Running past the stands, which face this way.
Looking south we see the camping area and RV's parked along Speedway Blvd.
Turns 3 and 4 of the dirt track, with the end of the drag strip in the upper left.
Row upon row of school busses used to haul fans from the parking lots to Lowes Speedway are stored under the dirt track stands.
